railway station…

The day which was unlike most days was cold and quiet, I sat at the edge of the railway tracks staring aimlessly at the brick wall on the other side of the track. Around me fell water drops trickling down my face and forming little puddles either side of my skirt. The rain burnt but it was almost a nice pain, a comforting pain it reminded me that i was still alive. The sky was becoming darker by the minute, my ear drums felt a mixture of the pounding sounds of thunder and the piercing sound of the intruder alarms. They tried to tell me to get back up but all the courage I had already seeped through my veins and out of all my bullet wounds. This was the only place i felt safe.

My eyes scanned the empty underground railway station, I’d been there for days and the cans of beans and old water was no longer satisfying me. With the little bit of strength I had left in my bones i managed to climb up and walk around the station. I caught a glimpse of my reflection in a puddle, my skin all torn up and beaten with blood streaming down my face from all the scratches I had accumulated and large dark black bags lining my eye sockets. My mind drifted back to those days when I would walk through my peaceful city listening to the young boys and girls gossip in the alleyways and the forbidden thoughts dribble off the top of their tongues. I longed for those friday nights we spent down at the beach house just north of the city. I finally snapped back from my thoughts my legs began to quiver and ache my day was coming to an end. I lay with my back pressed against the concrete floor staring at the night sky of which was set alight from the constellation of stars and bright moon. My eyes slowly began to way down and i allowed my mind to drift off hoping to wake up and escape this cruel reality i have found myself in.
